Rugby League

Rugby League is a fast-paced, physical sport that emphasises strength, speed, and strategic teamwork.

Rugby League is known for its intensity and thrilling gameplay and it offers a unique challenge distinct from Rugby Union, making it an exciting choice for both newcomers and seasoned rugby players.

The Oxford Brookes Rugby League Club features a Men’s Team that competes in Tier 1 of the Southern Southern British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues. Each academic year, they also face off against Oxford University in the much-anticipated Derby Day fixture.

The club welcomes players of all abilities and encourages those with a Rugby Union background to give Rugby League a try. The team is led by Head Coach, Joel Hopkins, a former Oxford Brookes Rugby League student-athlete who has been guiding the squad for several years.

The club trains and plays out of Oxford Harlequins RFC.
