University financial aid

The primary purpose of University Financial Aid is to relieve financial difficulties which might impact on a student's participation in higher education at Oxford Brookes University and to help them remain at the University.

Essential information for applicants

You can only apply for Financial Aid if you are a fully enrolled student and have applied to all the funding available to you (Student Finance, NHS Learning Support Fund, etc.).

If you are a final year student, please ensure you submit your application by the graduating student deadline.

Global Banking School (GBS) students are not eligible to apply for Financial Aid at Oxford Brookes. Please email welfare@globalbanking.ac.uk for advice and support.

If you need advice on student finance, welfare benefits or money management, please contact our Student Money Advisers.

Alert If you are currently experiencing a significant financial emergency (e.g. being made homeless, no food, etc) or have any questions, please contact us at finaid@brookes.ac.uk.

How to apply

Complete the following steps and don't forget to submit your supporting evidence.

Is there a deadline to apply?

The purpose of financial aid is to help students reach the end of their course. If you are graduating, then you need to apply in time for your application to be considered by your completion date.

Deadlines are usually at least 4 weeks before your completion date. If you are unsure of your completion date or of the application deadline, please email finaid@brookes.ac.uk.

Further information

Students should be aware that Financial Aid is intended to act as a safety net for those in financial difficulty rather than their main source of income.

The National Association of Student Money Advisers (NASMA) provide universities across the UK with hardship funding guidelines. Oxford Brookes uses this as guidance to help ensure an equitable assessment process.
