UCCE Cricket

The Oxford University Centre of Cricketing Excellence (Oxford UCCE) is an amazing opportunity for elite cricketers who aspire to become professional.

Oxford is one of just 5 university centres across the country where an elite team of coaches work with players daily from October to June across all disciplines: Batting, Fast Bowling and Spin Bowling, Fielding, Wicket-Keeping and Conditioning.

Players selected for the Men's UCCE squad receive access to some additional benefits including:

  • Sports-specific Strength & Conditioning training and Nutritional support
  • Free or subsidised Physiotherapy including screening, massage, prehab and reactive services
  • Sports Psychology and Performance Lifestyle sessions
  • Support with Academic Flexibility

Every summer, players selected for the Men's Oxford UCCE may have the opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world. Over the years this included: Kevin Pieterson, Steve Finn, Nick Compton, Chris Tremlett and Sam Robson among others. Most recently in 2022, we welcomed both Worcestershire and Derbyshire to the University Parks.

Alumni testimonials

"It has been fantastic to be a part of such a well-structured cricket programme. All credit to Graham Charlesworth and Luke Taylor who work endlessly to provide our group with the best opportunities to grow as athletes. From skills work to S&C to nutrition, opportunities for improvement are always available. Our full winter programme gives us the chance to train all year round with high-quality skills and fitness programmes that are fine-tuned for our individual progress. We always have that flexibility that allows us to stay ahead of our studies as well. The pre-season county fixtures offer great opportunities, and this led to me being able to train with the Hampshire squad and debuting in the T20 Blast."

"I look back at my time at Oxford Brookes with immense pride. My student life was not a stereotypical one. My ambition was to get a good degree and also pursue my ambition to become a professional cricketer. Oxford Brookes gave me access to the facilities and expertise I required to achieve both. By the end of my time, I had a 2:1 and been offered my first professional contract at Sussex CCC. Going to Oxford Brookes was one of the best and most important decisions I have ever made and I’ve never looked back."
