Jon Norburn has been a Civil Servant for over 25 years. He is currently a Director in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and has held a wide variety of roles focused on geo-political and national security issues. He has served as a UK diplomat in Bangladesh, Turkey and Barbados and had a 3-year secondment to the New Zealand government, where he ran the National Cyber Security Centre.
Jon’s long-standing interest in the higher education sector began during his undergraduate degree at the University of Warwick. Whilst there, he spent a year as President of the Students’ Union and a subsequent year as a Director of NUS Services Limited. He worked in the university’s International Office and retains a keen interest in the global nature of UK universities. He is strongly committed to improving and diversifying access to the HE sector.
Jon is married and has 2 daughters who are in or on the cusp of Higher Education themselves. He lives in Headington and is a part of Oxford Brookes University's local community.
