John Zealley was elected as the new Chair of the Board of Governors on 1 July 2024. John was appointed as an Independent Governor in November 2020 and served as the Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee.
Professionally, John worked as a Senior Managing Director with a leading international business and technology firm. His experience focused on helping clients to design and execute beneficial change to capture the benefits of a rapidly altering world. In addition, he has led significant global practices, with professionals and clients based around the world, enabling him to engage directly with many of the world's leading economies. He now focuses on advising marketing and technology-led start-ups.
Following an undergraduate degree in Geography, John trained as a marketer and having worked in strategy consulting, John has specialised in understanding how to meet increasingly demanding customer needs in a sustainable and long-term viable way. John is a Fellow of the Marketing Society and a published author in the marketing field.
John has served as a chair, trustee and advisor to charities in the areas of citizenship, consumer advocacy, medical research and in his local community. His experience includes fundraising, overseeing significant investments and reviewing governance arrangements. In the academic sphere, John has worked to shape interdisciplinary approaches to enhancing global sustainable prosperity and circularity.
John is married to Sue and has four children of undergraduate and postgraduate age.
