Simulation Based Education Facilitators Course - An Introduction

About the course

Welcome to our multi professional faculty, accredited by the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH). Our mission is to empower participants with the skills to effectively teach others through simulation-based education and master a variety of simulation modalities, including the use of simulated participants.

Our two-day, face-to-face course is open to professionals from all health and social care disciplines. It provides a comprehensive introduction to simulation-based education, covering essential theory, scenario design and development, and the critical aspects of pre-briefing, psychological safety, and debriefing. Participants will have the opportunity to actively engage in delivering a simulation and conducting a debrief, ensuring a practical, hands-on learning experience.

  • Educational Theory and Simulation Based Education: Distilling a big idea to scenario specific learning outcomes
  • Running a successful simulation (from conception to reflection)
  • Debriefing in action.

Day 2: Practical simulation

  • Setting up and facilitating a scenario
  • Working with Simulation Technicians
  • Working with Simulated Participants
  • Prebriefing for a simulation event
  • Facilitating a simulation with simulated participants
  • Debriefing a simulation event
  • Meta-debriefing with course mentors.
