PHYSIOLOGY101 Essentials of Physiology and Anatomy

An online short course designed to support graduates of science subjects to achieve competency in the basic principles of human physiology and anatomy.

About the course

The PHYSIOLOGY101 Essentials of Physiology & Anatomy course is a self-study/self-paced online short course tailored to support graduates of science disciplines who need to attain competency in the basic principles of human physiology and anatomy. The course provides approximately 15 hours of lecture recordings and interactive teaching materials, along with practice quizzes and recommended additional readings to deepen your understanding of the topics covered.

The cost for the entire course package is £700.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate, which can be used to meet one of the entry requirements for enrollment* in our MSc Dietetics (pre-registration) course. The Oxford Brookes MSc Dietetics (pre-registration) course is in the process of being accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA).

*Successful completion of this short course alone does not guarantee you an automatic enrolment onto the MSc programme. Please see the full list of MSc entry requirements and/or refer to your post-interview conditional offer letter for further information.

Learning units

The PHYSIOLOGY101 Essentials of Physiology & Anatomy course is equivalent to 2 weeks of full-time study and is assessed through a pass/fail multiple-choice quiz, with a passing grade set at 40%. The course covers various relevant topics focused on physiological processes at the organ and system levels. Here are some of the topics included in the course:

  • Nervous System
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastrointestinal system
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Renal system
  • Reproductive System
  • Immune System.

  • Access to the short course material will be enabled for the entire period of your enrolment in our Dietetics (pre-registration) programme as study aids.
