The University’s Flexible Working Policy provides all employees with the right to make a request to change hours of work and patterns of work. Faculty/Directorate managers are encouraged to accommodate such requests and must provide clear business or operational reasons if the request is declined, in line with the Flexible Working Policy.
It is evident that some roles within Faculties/Directorates are less adaptable to flexible working options.
The aims of the Flexible Working Policy are to improve and develop ways of working that better enable employees to combine and balance their work and personal life, and to improve the University’s utilisation of employees.
Managers and Employees can find guidance on the Work-life Balance pages, or contact their link People Manager in the People Directorate for information and support on flexible working.
