The communication plan is an important part of the project lifecycle as it identifies all project stakeholders and the purpose, means and frequency of communication between them and the project. This includes, internal and external communications, reporting and governance communications and media communications.
Stakeholders include all those with an interest in the project and the outcomes of the project, all those on whom the project may have an impact, and all those who perceive themselves to be someone on whom the project may have an impact.
The project manager is responsible for the production of the communication plan. The project manager must actively engage with the marketing and communications team and other key stakeholders to gather the relevant input.
