The BROOKESkey

The BROOKESbus is the University’s dedicated bus service, and the student bus pass is called the BROOKESkey.

As an Oxford Brookes University student, you can get the BROOKESkey as an app on your phone. This app will give you access to discounted and/or inclusive travel on the BROOKESbus services, plus other Oxford Bus Company services such as the city buses and the Airline coach.

Free travel for new students

All our new students receive free BROOKESbus travel for the first few weeks of semester. You will receive welcome emails from Oxford Brookes University from mid September onwards. These emails will contain a QR code with an expiry date. Simply scan the QR code under the ticket scanner on the bus and your travel will be free.

How to apply for your BROOKESkey account

Please note that you can only complete the application process once you've received your student number and have access to your Oxford Brookes email account. Unfortunately applications submitted without these can not be processed. Returning students do not need to reapply each year and those who continue to be eligible for the Inclusive Travel Pass will see this appear in their accounts shortly.

  1. Apply for your BROOKESkey via this form. Make sure you use your Oxford Brookes email address to apply.
  2. You will need to confirm your Oxford Brookes student number and semester-time address when applying.
  3. Pay the one-off administration fee.
  4. Allow up to five working days for the application to be processed
  5. You will receive an email - follow the instructions to access the BROOKESkey app.
  6. Buy any discounted travel products you'd like to use. If you are eligible for inclusive travel on the BROOKESbuses, the Inclusive Travel Pass will be added for you automatically. Check your eligibility for the Inclusive Travel Pass here.

For any application or account queries, please email brookesbus@oxfordbus.co.uk.
