Right to Study checks

If you are not a UK national, please read the information on this page carefully.

Any students who are not British citizens will need to send us a copy of their immigration permission or visa which allows them to study in the UK. This check is solely based on nationality, not on whether you pay home or international fees. You will not be fully enrolled until you have done this. It can be done before or after your online enrolment. The information on this page will tell you how to do this.

All Right to Study checks must be completed by Friday 4 October 2024.

How to complete Right to Study checks

Student visa holders who applied for their CAS through CAS Shield

You can only complete your Right to Study checks once you have your Student visa and have arrived in the UK.

Once you are in the UK, please upload the following documents to the Travel Docs section of Enroly CAS Shield.

EU/EEA/Swiss students

Share code generated at View and prove your immigration status.
Travel documents some students will have a vignette (sticker in passport). If you were not given a vignette, please send a flight ticket or boarding pass.

Students from any other country

Visa decision letter or Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
Stamped vignette (sticker in passport). If your vignette was not stamped as you came through the e-gates, please send a copy of your flight ticket or boarding pass.

Student visa holders who have not used CAS Shield to apply for their CAS

This includes Research Degree students, exchange students and students from partnership colleges.

Please email the following documents to isct@brookes.ac.uk using the following title: Enrolment Sept 2024 number 19XXXXXX.

You can only complete your Right to Study checks once you have your Student visa and have arrived in the UK. Please do not email your travel documents before this.

EU/EEA/Swiss students

Share code generated at View and prove your immigration status.

Students from any other country

Students studying on a Visitor visa - for programmes of less than 6 months (including exchange students and visiting research students)

You can only do your right to study checks once you arrive in the UK so please do not email us your passport and travel documentation before you travel.

Please send a copy of your passport and travel documents (flight ticket or boarding pass) to isct@brookes.ac.uk once you arrive in the UK. If you have a vignette visa in your passport because you got your Visitor visa in your home country before you travelled, please also send us a stamped copy of this.

Please make sure that the title of your email is in the following format: Enrolment Sept 2024 visitor visa student number 19XXXXXX.

EU/EEA and Swiss students with pre-settled/settled status

Please send a copy of your passport and share code to isct@brookes.ac.uk. The share code can be generated on the Government webpages: view and prove your immigration status.

Please make sure that the title of your email is in the following format: Enrolment Sept 2024 EU settlement share code student number 19XXXXXX.

Students with other visas or immigration permission

Please send a copy of your visa or immigration permission and passport to isct@brookes.ac.uk. Most students will be able to generate a share code to show Right to Study at view and prove your immigration status. Please note, you will need to choose a reason for the share code from a drop down box. Please choose “Something else” as your reason, not “Right to Work”.

Please make sure that the title of your email is in the following format: Enrolment Sept 2024 other visa student number 19XXXXXX.

Students with Irish passports

Please send a copy of your passport to isct@brookes.ac.uk.

Please make sure that the title of your email is in the following format: ‘Enrolment Sep 2024 Irish passport student number 19XXXXXX’.

The Zoom Room will be available from Monday 9 September. Open from 11:00am - 12:00pm, Monday to Friday.
