How to use company, news and finance databases
Search the Library
The databases on this page are useful if you want to investigate a company, particularly their financial position. You can also find the latest news about a company or industry.
Fame, Orbis and Mergent all contain company financial information. Fame covers medium to large companies in the UK and Ireland. Orbis has global coverage, focusing on larger companies. Mergent has more on US companies, and also has investment information.
Business Source Complete and Marketline also have company profiles.
Factiva is a huge database of news articles. It can help you to avoid paywalls, since it covers news organisations that commonly restrict access to their content online. You can also search across a wide range of sources for a particular topic, and find local news from other parts of the world.
