Professor Lucy Mazdon studied at the Universities of Birmingham, Grenoble and Warwick, and completed her PhD on Hollywood remakes of French cinema at the University of Southampton in 1996. In the same year, she was appointed to the position of Senior Research Fellow in the School of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Southampton. Working with other specialists in film, she went on to develop Southampton’s highly successful Film Studies curriculum and Department of Film.
She has been a Professor in Film Studies since 2011 and was previously Head of the Department of Film and Associate Dean (Research and Enterprise) in Southampton’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities prior to moving to the University of Hull.
Lucy joined Oxford Brookes University at the start of 2022 from the University of Hull where she had been Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education, a role she had been in since July 2019. Lucy is the lead for international students within the Vice-Chancellor’s Group at Oxford Brookes. Lucy’s research interests lie in the fields of television and film with a specific focus on French cinema in an international context and on remakes.
