Changing your application after applying direct

Second thoughts about your course choice?

It’s not unusual to re-think your course choice, so please don’t worry if you have a change of heart. We can help! We’re always happy to consider a course change request, subject to availability and entry criteria.

If you’re a direct applicant:

  • Please log into your Applicant Portal
  • Head to your application ‘Review’ page
  • Click on the ‘Request Deferral or Program Change’ heading in the top right hand corner.

If you’ve applied via UCAS:

Changes will normally be reflected on your UCAS Hub or Applicant Portal within 5 days, but if the change is not possible for any reason, we’ll be in touch with you by email to outline your options.

Updating your details

Please let us know if your contact details change so that you don’t miss out on any important communication. If you’ve applied directly, please use the Applicant Portal to update your details.

Deferring your place

If you’d prefer to start your course at a later date (or join us sooner!) we’re happy to consider your request, subject to availability and entry criteria.

If you’re a direct applicant:

  • Please check the available entry points for your course.to choose one that suits you.
  • Log into your Applicant Portal
  • Head to your application ‘Review’ page
  • Click on the ‘Request Deferral or Program Change’  heading in the top right hand corner.

If you’ve applied via UCAS:

If you are unable to submit the form

If you are unable to submit this form, please email us at admissions@brookes.ac.uk. Please title your email ‘Deferral request’, provide a brief explanation of your reason for requesting a deferral and include the following details:

  • first name,
  • last name,
  • UCAS/Applicant ID,
  • name of course,
  • country of residence,
  • if you have an agent, please confirm their email address,
  • details of any English language test you took,
  • the award date of your English language certificate.
