FAQs
Find answers to some commonly asked questions about graduation.
When will I receive my certificate?
Certificates have been sent to your home addresses within 12 weeks of your award date. If you have not received your certificate, please email certificates@brookes.ac.uk who can assist.
What happens if I am studying two subject fields?
If you are an undergraduate student studying a combined degree with two subjects of equal weighting (joint award), you may be offered a choice of ceremonies.
Choosing a ceremony will determine which Faculty you graduate with. For example, if you are studying Economics (EC) and Politics (PO) you will be given a choice of ceremonies when you register.
If you are studying a degree with major/minor fields, you will be eligible to register to attend the ceremony for your major field only.
What happens if I am not awarded by the award deadline?
Students invited to the ceremonies will already be awarded or will be awarded in time for the ceremonies. If for any reason you are not awarded, you will be removed from the ceremony and notified via email.

- Ceremony dates: 29 May to 1 June 2024

What happens if I have debts to the University?
Students cannot attend the ceremony if they have outstanding debt owed to the University. Students who have registered will be informed and offered the opportunity to pay this prior to the ceremony.
Can I ask for my name to be removed from the Awards List?
The names, courses and prizes of all graduates who have been awarded by Oxford Brookes University appear in the Awards List for the ceremony they have registered to attend.
If you wish for any of this information to be removed from this publication, please contact us at least 3 weeks before your ceremony, giving your student number and clearly confirming what information you wish to be removed. In the subject box, please enter 'Exclude from Awards List'.
I do not want my name passed on to any clothing suppliers
Graduate names will be passed on to our clothing supplier, Campus Clothing to produce a "Class of ...” t-shirts and hoodies. If you don’t wish for your name to be included on any graduation clothing, please email graduation@brookes.ac.uk before registration closes.
Can I bring children to the campus?
Yes, you can. Oxford Brookes welcomes all ages to the campus. However, children under 5 years old will not be allowed in the ceremony hall. We have a family room where our younger guests can play and watch the ceremony with a parent or guardian.
What happens to lost property?
Lost property will be held at the Main Reception in the John Henry Brookes Building on the day. If you have forgotten something, please call on 01865 488200.
