Residence Life
We know many students feel anxious and apprehensive about moving away from home. Resi Life and the wider university are here to help you ease into university life and provide useful resources for you whilst you are here. The Residences Life Team are here to support you through your time here in our halls of residence.
We aim to create a positive sense of community and belonging as a student at Oxford Brookes University.
Some of the things we do:
- Help students adapt to university life
- Organise fun events and activities throughout the year
- Provide wellbeing guidance and signposting
- Encourage and provide tips on ‘being green’
- Help students come together to create new friendships and experiences they can look back on.
Internet Access
Wi-Fi and wired* connectivity is available at all Oxford Brookes-managed halls. If you live in one of our partnership halls they will be able to provide you information about the Wi-Fi and wired connections they offer.
*Residents can connect to wired internet on their own devices using an ethernet cable - some newer devices and apple products may require an adaptor (cables and adaptors are not included).
The complimentary internet connections in the halls is provided by WiFinity and whilst every effort will be made to ensure the connection is stable, the University does not accept liability for any loss of connection due to technical problems.
Laundry
All halls have laundry rooms on site for students to use and are accessible 24/7.
Machines in university-managed halls (excluding Cheney Student Village) are operated by Circuit Laundry. To use them you will need to download the Circuit Laundry app, create an account and add funds - or use the tap and go feature. Circuit Laundry charge £1.75 for a wash and £0.75 for a dry*.
*Prices are correct as of September 2024 and are subject to change

Meet New People
Living in university accommodation is a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
The events and activities run by our Resi Life Team help students to do this.
Students are randomly allocated based on their accommodation preferences which allows you to meet lots of new people studying different courses across the university.
Safe and Secure
Our halls of residence are a supportive and safe environment. Our hall staff are experienced in making people feel welcome and at home. All of our halls have an on-site halls team to help and advise during the day. There is support available on-site throughout the night too.
The University is situated in one of the safest student areas in the country according to research conducted by the Complete University Guide.
