Biomedical Science underpins our understanding of human health and disease. This includes understanding what causes diseases and their symptoms, and how that knowledge is being applied to the detection, diagnosis, management, treatment and even prevention of disease.

We offer several degrees related to Biomedical Science, enabling you to select the field you are most interested in.

Life Sciences Foundation	1 year (leading to a 3-year degree course)	This foundation year focuses on developing scientific skills and knowledge including fundamental biological, biochemical, mathematical and academic skills.	This foundation year will enable you to progress on to any of our undergraduate Biosciences or Nutrition, Sport and Physical Activity degrees.
Undergraduate
Biomedical Science	BSc (Hons) 3 years	This course is designed to give students a broad understanding of the scientific investigation of human health and disease. Students will develop practical and research skills using the techniques and equipment found in professional laboratories. Placement year available. Medical Science	BSc (Hons) 3 years	The degree offers the opportunity to study the function of the human body in health and disease at molecular, cellular and physiological levels. Students will develop key skills and scientific knowledge which prepare them for employment in a range of healthcare science professions or medical research.
