Teaching and learning

Our courses go beyond traditional teaching methods, integrating hands-on experience to ensure that you are equipped to demonstrate your knowledge in a real-world setting.

Study options

We offer lots of study options, making it easier than ever to study at postgraduate level. Visit our course pages to see what study options are available to you.

Full-time postgraduate study is typically 1-2 years. As part of some courses, you will also have the opportunity to participate in a work placement, extending your course duration by one year.

Part-time courses are typically completed within 1-3 years. Upgrade your skills without sacrificing your current job or personal commitments and apply your learnings to real-time situations.

Hybrid learning means you benefit from a mix of online and on-campus learning, typically completing the course in 1 - 2 1/2 years, depending if you study full-time or part-time. Enjoy the flexibility of online learning while still engaging in face-to-face interactions with faculty and fellow students.

Distance learning courses maintain the same high standards and content as our on-campus courses. Designed to be flexible and convenient, online study helps you to manage work, family commitments or simply a busy lifestyle.

Inspirational academics

Oxford Brookes lecturers offer a wealth of experience who will challenge you to think in new ways, which is why we’re ranked 5th in the UK for teaching (Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2023).

Be treated as an academic equal

“Part of what I loved about Oxford Brookes was being treated as an equal by the academics. They were never too busy to see me and I always felt they respected me as an equal. They challenged me in the best way and helped me map my career journey.”

World-leading research that gives students a voice

High-quality, applied research lies at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to making a substantial contribution to some of today’s most challenging issues. Our research has a global, national and local impact and we offer opportunities to conduct inspiring research of your own.

Claire Gibbs shares the research project she undertook while studying for an MSc in Nursing Studies.

"I conducted original research for my dissertation, focusing on supporting future nurses. Recognising a gap in the literature, I investigated student nurses' experiences during clinical placements.

Once I collated my research, I found insightful results, leading to immediate implementation of some suggestions across several hospitals. I'm proud the student voice was heard and made an immediate impact because of my research."
