Research degree student visa extension

Step 1

You will need to contact the Research Degrees Team (researchenrolment@brookes.ac.uk) and work with your supervisor to establish your new programme end date and make sure it is up-to-date on your Student Information page.

Step 2

Make sure you have the correct documents for your visa application. It is extremely important that you check the financial requirements carefully and give yourself plenty of time to get these ready and renew your ATAS Certificate if this is a requirement of your programme.

Step 3

In order to consider your request for a CAS needed to extend your Student visa, we will have to check that you have been attending your lectures and engaging with your course. If you have not been attending and engaging, we reserve the right not to issue your CAS.

Please note that if you have an outstanding debt to the university for tuition or accommodation fees, you will not be issued a CAS until they are fully paid.

Fill in the visa information form and email it to the International Student Advice Team (isat@brookes.ac.uk) along with:

  • your passport photo page
  • your current and previous visas
  • your financial evidence if required.

Step 4

Providing the documents in Step 3 meet the UKVI requirements and we are happy with your engagement and attendance, the International Student Compliance Team should email your CAS within 5 working days.
