Peer support groups

Student Support Services offers safe and welcoming support groups for students who would like to share their experiences with others who understand them. They are facilitated by University staff and are open to any student who needs them.

ADHD group

The ADHD group is open to any student at Oxford Brookes University who identifies with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - whether you have a diagnosis or are working through your experiences independently. The group meets weekly on a Monday lunchtime on the Headington Campus.

It's a relaxed, supportive and informal group where you can be open about the your experiences of the challenges and strengths that come from having ADHD. We encourage you to share resources and strategies for surviving and thriving. The group is facilitated by two members of Inclusive Support Service staff, and we regularly invite other University staff who live with ADHD to join us.

If you're interested in coming along to the group, or have any questions, please get in touch: inclusivesupport@brookes.ac.uk.

ASC group

The ASC group is open to any student at Oxford Brookes who identifies as being on the autistic spectrum. The group runs in-person every Wednesday lunchtime during semester time in Headington, facilitated by Inclusive Support Service staff.

The group is relaxed, open, supportive and informal, and open to any student at any point in their course. The idea of the group is to provide time and space away from some of the pressures of university life, and to be with others who might share similar experiences.

If you're interested in coming along to the group, or have any questions, please get in touch: inclusivesupport@brookes.ac.uk.

Support for students with diabetes

A space for students to connect with other students with diabetes, share your experiences of university life and find out more about the support at Oxford Brookes. The group is facilitated by academic staff who are knowledgeable about diabetes and have experience supporting diabetic students.

Support for trans and gender non-conforming students

A welcoming group for any trans or gender non-conforming student who would like to meet others having the same experience. The group runs fortnightly during semester-time.

This is an autonomous group for people with a lived experience of exploring gender beyond the binary. If you identify as trans, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, or are questioning your identity you are welcome in this space. The staff facilitators are a member of Inclusive Support staff and a chaplain.
