Employer Engagement and Vacancy Policy
The Employer Team within Oxford Brookes Careers offers a range of services to support organisations with student engagement and recruitment:
- JobTeaser Vacancy Portal: Advertise internships, placements and graduate jobs through our online portal to current students and recent graduates.
- Careers Events: Attend careers fairs, employer pop-ups on campus and host online webinars
- Jobshop: Part-time jobs service
- Volunteer Centre: Locally based charities and not for profit organisations seeking volunteers can promote their opportunities through our dedicated volunteer portal.
This policy applies to all employer engagement activities.

Vacancy Portal
Our Vacancy Portal JobTeaser is free to use and can be accessed by all current students and alumni. Please use the following link to create an account: Access to JobTeaser.
To post opportunities on our vacancy portal, we require you to set up your organisation profile.
For guidance on how to set up your profile and advertise vacancies, please request our guide from employers@brookes.ac.uk.
To advertise a vacancy please read these terms and conditions before creating your employer profile through JobTeaser. The placement of an advert on JobTeaser shall be regarded as acceptance of this vacancy policy.
Terms and conditions
- It is the responsibility of the organisation submitting the vacancy to ensure that each advertisement placed is fully compliant with current employment and equal opportunities legislation.
- All vacancies posted to our Vacancy Portal JobTeaser and are subject to screening by a member of the Careers Team. We reserve the right to refuse to advertise a vacancy, or to withdraw or cancel an advert entirely at our discretion. We will remove any advert that we consider contravenes our terms and conditions.
- We will try to establish that organisations registering with us are legitimate organisations offering genuine work opportunities for our students and graduates; if we are unable to gather sufficient evidence for this purpose the organisation and its vacancies will not be processed.
- Oxford Brookes University does not accept any liability for any advert placed with us.
- We ask all organisations are aware of their obligations as a recruiter, please refer to the Government guidance on Employing People.
- To ensure your company profile is approved, as a minimum please ensure the following is included: company name, administrator contact details, company website, recruiter contact details. Please do not include your job advertisement within your company profile. (We strongly suggest you complete all details within the company profile to ensure you stand out to students and encourage them to follow your organisation and apply to vacancies advertised).
- Vacancies must include the salary which needs to meet national minimum wage requirements. Please refer to Government guidance on The National Minimum Wage and Living Wage.
- All International opportunities should meet the requirements for the country they are based in.
Vacancies we are unable to advertise
- Involve any form of payment by the applicant or employee, set up fee or investment (excludes mandatory fees such as visas/work permits)
- Do not meet UK National Minimum Wage
- Vacancies which are commission only
- Based in a private household or are being promoted on the behalf of individuals.*(see private employer heading)
- Appear to not meet the requirements of equality or other employment legislation
- Vacancies which are part of multi-level marketing, also known as pyramid selling (or similar style) schemes
- Are connected to the adult/sex industry, or are associated with adult content
- Involve students writing or sharing academically related material for use by other students
- Company information which is incomplete, eg nature of company, missing address, website and contact details
- Have misleading, incomplete or inaccurate job descriptions
- Promote or endorse any illegal activity
- Represent an undue health and/or safety risk
- Are training courses/programmes not accredited by a recognised educational or professional body
Unpaid vacancies
We appreciate that a number of organisations are keen to offer our students “work experience” and short term projects, however it is essential that these opportunities are fair and a valuable source of experience and not just “unpaid work.” Oxford Brookes Careers reserve the right to refuse unpaid opportunities which are:
- Organisations which are not a registered charity, voluntary group or not for profit organisation.
- Ongoing opportunities that are longer than 12 weeks.
- Job vacancies that would normally be filled by a permanent or temporary member of staff.
- There is a clear commitment in advance from the employer of what the candidate can expect to learn from
Recruitment Agencies
Oxford Brookes Careers will advertise recruitment agency vacancies as long as they meet our policy requirements. We will only approve specific vacancies that exist and will not run generic adverts. We will require the name of the employer the agency is representing before a vacancy can be approved. This information will not be disclosed to students.
Private employment
We will not advertise for private individuals/households or vacancies which are based in private homes (roles such as Personal Assistant may be considered if appropriate the processes are completed).
By creating an account with our Vacancy Portal JobTeaser you agree that:
- We may use your contact information for the purposes of communicating with you about events and/or activities which you have booked with us, or to promote opportunities we feel may be of interest to you and/or your organisation (e.g. careers fairs).
- We may promote your opportunities via social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and via student newsletters) without informing you of these communications.
- It is your responsibility to keep contact details up-to-date or to notify us of any changes at your organisation.
- If your account has been inactive for two years, we may deactivate your account without seeking your prior consent.
Oxford Brookes Careers complies with the University’s Information Management protocols, including its Information Security Policy, to ensure the maintenance of confidentiality, integrity and the appropriate availability of data.
