Poet Sarah Corbett was the poet-tutor who ran these John Clare workshops: two in Bradford Library and two in Keighley Library, with a final John Clare Birthday Party on 13 July 2019 in Keighley Library. These workshops were hosted by Bradford Libraries and administered by Dionne Hood.
Sarah Corbett has published five collections of poetry, including the verse-novel, And She Was (Liverpool University Press/Pavilion Poetry, 2015), and most recently, A Perfect Mirror (Pavilion Poetry, 2018), which contains a number of poems that respond directly to John Clare. Her poetry has been shortlisted for the Forward and T.S. Eliot prizes and widely translated and anthologised. She is currently completing her first novel, Go, Said the Bird, which won the Andrea Badenoch Award for Fiction in 2019, and starting a new poetic work that begins with the fall of the Berlin Wall and looks towards an imagined European future. Sarah teaches Creative Writing for Lancaster University and lives in the Calder Valley.
