Supporting young people in Oxford through nutrition and equality

Following a successful grant application for ESRC impact funding, September marks the launch of the CYP project Banking on Health, led by Dr Shelly Coe. This project addresses a pressing need to support young people in the Oxford area facing food insecurity and is grounded in:

  • Promoting good health and wellbeing
  • Reducing inequalities

Using a student-led, co-design approach, young people from local schools will learn about nutrition and healthy eating through hands-on sessions in the state-of-the-art cooking facilities at Oxford Brookes. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with high levels of interest from local schools keen to participate and from Brookes students eager to lead the sessions.

The project is delivered in partnership with Good Food Oxfordshire and local food banks.
