Role
Dr Mamdooh Alzyood is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at Oxford Brookes University, and a pivotal figure in infection control research since 2012. Dr Alzyood's academic journey includes a PhD in Health Care Studies from Oxford Brookes University, alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, and an MSc in Infection Prevention & Control. His academic background is further complemented by an ATHE Level 7 Diploma in Healthcare Management from Northwest College Reading.
Dr Alzyood's responsibilities extend to international collaboration, notably as the Subject Expert and Liaison Manager for the BSc (Hons) Nursing Top-up Degree in Sri Lanka. Here, he oversees curriculum development and ensures academic excellence, contributing significantly to the programme's success. As the Deputy Lead of the Get Published project, he coordinates activities to support students in disseminating their research, including organising the annual Get Published Student Research Conference.
His involvement in the Faculty Academic Enhancement and Standards Committee highlights his dedication to academic quality assurance, where he reviews and approves external examiner appointments and programme changes. Additionally, as a member of the Induction and Transition Group, he works to enhance the student experience during induction and transition phases.
Dr Alzyood's contributions to public health extend beyond academia through his role as an Associate Consultant at the Institute of Public Care and his volunteer work with various health initiatives. He is also an active member of several professional organisations, including the British Infection Association (BIA), Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), Healthcare Infection Society (HIS), and the Infection Prevention Society (IPS).
