What should you do with your data at the end of your research project?

This session will unpack Oxford Brookes policies around data management for postgraduate research students.

Details

Our session on Research Data Management Planning will unpack what Oxford Brookes policies around data management mean for postgraduate students. It will also explore complex areas in the arts and humanities, such as historical research and architecture, that are not traditionally understood as having data.

We will introduce the concept of the data lifecycle and data curation. This understanding is crucial for managing data responsibly throughout your research project. Learn about metadata, file formats, and the importance of making data openly accessible within ethical boundaries. We will work through two case studies, do a metadata exercise, and then take questions. Students are welcome to submit any data management dilemmas or questions in advance to nlewin@brookes.ac.uk

Presenter: Nina Lewin, Research Data Manager.
