Imposter syndrome

This session will help you to understand imposter syndrome and how to address it.

Details

Imposter Syndrome (IS) is the feeling that you don't deserve to be where you are - that soon people will find out that you are a fake, that you just got lucky. It exists in all walks of life, but seems to be a particularly knotty problem in academia, where we may feel our worth is judged by our abilities.

In this very informal session, we will come together to talk about understanding IS, different personality types, recognising and changing thought patterns, reframing and actions for addressing IS. Through sharing your own experiences in a supportive space, we will address the IS elephant in the room, hopefully feel better about feeling worse!

Presenter: Alice Walker, PhD student at the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment.
