BSc International Hospitality and Tourism Management
I grew up in a region renowned for its tourism - the South of France
This inspired me to develop a keen interest in the hospitality sector, and pursue a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Oxford Brookes University, with the goal of gaining a comprehensive understanding of the industry and ultimately leading a business within it.
Transitioning to university life presented initial challenges in time management and self-motivation
However, modules focusing on personal and professional development have been instrumental in helping me identify my strengths and areas for improvement. This self-awareness is crucial for aligning one's career path with individual capabilities. Oxford Brookes has been exceptionally supportive throughout my academic journey. Their guidance on coursework and career development has been invaluable. I have formed strong relationships with my tutors, who are always accessible and willing to address any concerns.
I have especially appreciated the collaborative learning environment cultivated by the course
Group projects have provided engaging opportunities to work alongside my peers and bring concepts to fruition. Among the modules, Financial Management in Hospitality stands out. It offered valuable insights into the practical aspects of hotel management, including cost and revenue analysis across various departments.
I strongly advocate for students to undertake a placement year
and to explore diverse locations for their work experience. This not only provides practical industry insight but also enhances efficiency and strategic thinking. A placement year in hospitality and tourism can significantly accelerate career progression and facilitate a deeper understanding of academic concepts through real-world application.
The hospitality and tourism industry offers a vast array of global opportunities
While my current aspiration is to join a graduate programme offered by a luxury hotel group, and pursue leadership roles, I recognise the dynamic nature of career paths and remain open to diverse possibilities.
