The modules really interested me
Also because the course gives an edge in the employment market, which was a crucial factor for me. The course meets the professional standards and helps my career prospects. The comprehensive curriculum includes a variation of modules that covers both foundational level as well as advanced topics in each of them.
I've enjoyed the course and program
Particularly modules on people sourcing and talent management, employment law and employee engagement and performance and reward modules. Each of these modules had practical demonstrations of key topics, which made learning more engaging. So in all of these modules we had either mock tribunals or mock negotiations. Which gives us a real life perspective on the subject topic. We were given a real life business problem and had to apply the theoretical knowledge that we've gained throughout the course. It was really rewarding.
I’ve also been the course representative
It was amazing, it actually was, it wasn't a challenge and I found it rewarding. I was the middle person for the students, I was the students' link with the faculty. It was really nice, almost like a negotiation role, it went really well.
We were encouraged to go and attend CIPD events
They’re good events to network at, to expand your connections. Through an event I got a shadowing experience, I chatted with them at the event and then messaged them on LinkedIn asking, if they were willing to allow me to shadow a professional in their organisation while they worked. It does take a bit of effort and you have to make the first move.
I had a close connection with all of my tutors
I thought it was incredibly important for me. All were really approachable, willing to provide personalised feedback on our learning experiences. Also, their input on subject matters has been invaluable, providing deep insights and practical perspectives that go beyond the textbook knowledge. Talking from their personal experience as well, because many of them have professional experience. Also, I'm really thankful for all the additional help provided by the careers team as well. Their guidance and support has been instrumental in preparing us for our future careers and enhancing the comprehensive support system at Brookes.
Living in Oxford and studying in Oxford
My sister lives in London, but comparing Oxford to London with me as a person, I prefer Oxford because it's very calm, it's peaceful and also people here are lovely, they are very humble and they are always ready to help. The city is so beautiful. You can just take a walk outside and you feel refreshed.
I would like to start as an HR generalist in the corporate sector
Where I can help implement various HR strategies. So my goal is to gain a broad experience on various HR functions, and later on I want to focus on a few aspects that really interests me. Maybe talent management, talent acquisition or organisational, practice and all of those things.
