MFA Fine Art

I chose Oxford Brookes for its flexible course structure, which allowed me to balance part-time work in Oxford alongside my studies.
I was impressed with the Open Day which highlighted an integration between written and practical work. Throughout my studies, which began with my BA in Fine Art in 2016, I have found the flexibility of part-time study has worked well for me, and 24-hour access to a studio space was also an important factor. When I completed my BA, I felt there was more for me so I began my MFA in 2021. Today, I continue to develop both the practical and theoretical aspects of my work and enjoy being in this creative environment to this day.

The tutors at Oxford Brookes are fantastic.
They have helped me immensely throughout my academic journey. I have benefited from their expertise and knowledge which has given me a broad exposure to different disciplines and theoretical approaches. Throughout my studies they have been readily available with in-person or online office hours and, in the MFA particularly, we have plenty of one-to-one tutorial time.

I find the studio time with my cohort of real benefit.
Relationships are formed here and ideas exchanged. It is one of the most enjoyable parts of my studies and I feel bonds are forged which will continue after my studies. One of the key aspects for me has been the opportunity to talk, think and feel in an open and creative way with tutors and peers, which has helped me grow as an artist.

At Oxford Brookes, I have gained confidence in my creative and academic writing abilities.
This has greatly aided my career. In relation to the MFA in particular, this Semester I am building practical skills in Premiere Pro which will again be transferable to my career in educational and media design and continue to develop writing skills.
