Mental Health Nursing
“I have found a career I love”
I had been working for Oxford Health Trust for nearly three years when I chose to study Mental Health Nursing at Brookes. It was the obvious choice of university for me as many of the nurses I worked with had qualified at Brookes and spoke highly of the staff and training they received there.
The wide variety of placements that are available in Oxford are not easily come by elsewhere. I have experienced various placements whilst at Brookes and have enjoyed them all; the best part of being out on placement is getting to work with interesting and kind staff, patients, and families, in many different and challenging situations.
After completing my course I hope to gain employment in Oxford and settle into the role of being a qualified Nurse. In the future I would like to qualify in a talking therapy so that I can push myself and be of a greater benefit to those I work with.
Since working in mental health nursing I have found a career I love and I now want to take on more responsibility and have a better ability to help others.
