LLB Law with Business
I chose to study Law with Business at Oxford Brookes University
because of the course having an interdisciplinary approach, a combination not widely offered by other UK institutions. This program has been instrumental in shaping my career aspirations, particularly my interest in commercial law. The integration of business principles within a legal framework aligns perfectly with my professional goals.
Oxford Brookes' reputation and location in Oxford
were also significant factors in my decision. The university's strong ties to the legal community and its history of success in client interviewing and mooting competitions were particularly appealing. I was eager to gain practical skills alongside my academic knowledge, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application.
One professor, specializing in contract law,
served as a mentor and deeply influenced my interest in that area. The seminars were invaluable, providing opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life scenarios and understand the practical implications of legal principles. My academic advisor, Marc, has been a consistent source of support and guidance. He has provided mentorship, career advice, and insights into various legal opportunities, including mentorship programs and pupillage applications. His accessibility and willingness to discuss my aspirations have been invaluable. The regular meetings with my advisor have offered reassurance and helped me explore diverse career paths, providing a valuable safety net.
Oxford Brookes encourages participation in co-curricular activities,
which are essential for developing a competitive edge. These activities, such as client interviewing and mooting, provide exposure to solicitor and barrister roles, respectively, allowing students to explore different areas of law and determine their suitability for a legal career.
The Law with Business program distinguishes itself
by offering a comprehensive understanding of the commercial aspects of law. Studying alongside business students and learning from business professors has broadened my perspective and provided a holistic understanding of the field.
My career goal is to qualify as a solicitor, specializing in commercial contracts
Oxford Brookes' strong alumni network and connections with legal firms have been particularly beneficial. The university facilitates mentorship programs and provides opportunities to network with firms that actively recruit Oxford Brookes graduates. These connections have been indispensable in pursuing my career aspirations.
