LLM Master of Laws
Having completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Oxford Brookes,
I knew firsthand the university’s commitment to academic excellence and student support. My positive experience gave me the confidence to pursue an LLM in Human Rights Law, knowing I would benefit from research-led teaching, excellent resources, and a dynamic academic community. Oxford Brookes has played a key role in shaping my academic journey, and I was certain it would continue to support me in achieving my dream career as a lawyer.
The guidance I’ve received from my tutors has been invaluable.
They are not only experts in their fields but also approachable and always willing to offer support, whether through office hours, emails, or seminars. Their constructive feedback has significantly refined my analytical and writing skills, making complex legal concepts more accessible. The open and welcoming academic environment at Oxford Brookes made it easy to seek clarification and engage in discussions that deepened my understanding.
My cohort is made up of individuals
from a variety of backgrounds, creating a vibrant and enriching learning environment. Group projects and class discussions have enhanced my studies by exposing me to different perspectives, particularly in legal debates. The camaraderie we’ve developed has been both academically and personally supportive, helping us navigate the challenges of postgraduate study together.
The university’s extensive library and digital resources
have been crucial to my academic success. Whether working on coursework or my dissertation, I’ve always been able to find what I need, and the helpful library staff have guided me whenever necessary. With well-organised and easily accessible materials both on campus and online, researching and studying has been much more manageable.
Transitioning from undergraduate to postgraduate study
was a significant step up in terms of workload and complexity. At times, the intensity felt overwhelming, but with strong time management, academic support, and library resources, I adapted to the demands. This experience has helped me develop essential skills, such as critical analysis and research, which have been invaluable in my continued legal studies.
The research and analytical skills I developed
have been crucial in my current Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) studies. My LLM has not only deepened my understanding of human rights law but has also prepared me for the next stage of my legal career. With the LLM being a highly regarded qualification, it has already opened doors for future career opportunities, reinforcing my decision to study at Oxford Brookes.
