MSc Psychology, 2020
“From my course, I’ve gained a wealth of experience as a result. The course has provided me with the needed academic qualifications to pursue a career, I otherwise would not be able to”
After completing my undergraduate degree and a postgraduate degree in English (Literature) here at Oxford Brookes, I worked in academic publishing managing psychology journals for a couple of years. It was during that time I realised that a career in psychology was my true calling in life.
Returning to Oxford Brookes to do my second postgraduate degree fitted my needs perfectly, offering a conversion MSc in Psychology for people with no prior background.
My advice for current students researching postgraduate study is to talk to people who have done a postgraduate degree at Brookes themselves. You could find Oxford Brookes alumni on LinkedIn, through your lecturers - or get in touch with me! Talking to someone who has been through that experience is the best way to gain more understanding and get a feel for what it is really like.
I believe that through studying a postgraduate degree the connections you have the opportunity to make are second to none - postgraduate courses are a lot smaller so you get to know both your course-mates and the lecturers on a much more personal basis, which is amazing.
From my current course I’ve gained a wealth of experience as a result - it has given me great time management skills and developed my ability to work independently. The course has provided me with the needed academic qualifications to pursue a career that I otherwise would not be able to do.
