I chose Brookes because their Biomedical Science course is one of the few that is Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) accredited. The location of Brookes was also very attractive to me; it’s right on the outskirts of the city centre so it’s easy to get into town, especially with the Brookes bus service.
Within my course, I particularly enjoyed my final year laboratory-based research project, which I completed at Birkbeck University of London. I really enjoyed working alongside Dr Jane Nicklin to design and develop my project, as well as the experience of working within her laboratory. It gave me a lot more confidence in my own capability within laboratory investigations.
I also particularly enjoyed volunteering as a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) Ambassador at the Brookes Science Bazaar, which is an annual science fair that aims to get children outside the university interested in science.
Now I have completed my course, I am currently looking at potentially going into further education. My goal is to eventually work in research.
