MA English Literature, 2021
“I had no doubts that I would choose to study a MA English Literature because of my undergraduate experience and passion for the subject”
Upon reaching the end of my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Oxford Brookes University, I realised how much I had loved the course, learning new information and the environment in which this took place. I had a hunger to learn more, broaden my horizons and develop my analytical and critical skills further.
I had no doubts that I would choose to study a MA in English Literature because of my undergraduate experience and passion for the subject. My love for English Literature was nurtured and allowed to flourish at Oxford Brookes University. So, I knew that I wanted to return for postgraduate study here.
By studying English Literature, I have further developed my communication skills, both written and verbal, and this has allowed me to articulate myself better. Furthermore, I believe that I have developed excellent organisational, critical reasoning and analytical skills, as well as a broader mind-set for understanding global issues and historical contexts.
My advice to any current undergraduates unsure about continuing on to postgraduate study at Oxford Brookes is, if you enjoy your course, have a hunger for more, then why not? You never know what new things it might uncover!
I also advise you research into all aspects of postgraduate study such as course content, assignments and teaching times.
When I was researching postgraduate degrees, I contacted my lecturers who were incredibly helpful in signposting where to go for further advice on MA study. I was also advised to talk to the University’s student finance and accommodation team who talked through my options in regards to postgraduate living.
Overall, I feel Oxford Brookes is a place that I feel safe, supported and valued. Oxford Brookes University is a community, where student safety and happiness is of upmost importance to the institution.
