Animal sanctuaries are becoming increasingly popular, but a lack of regulatory systems for them allows sanctuary operations to compromise animal welfare and conservation. This research therefore aims to evaluate governance systems for tourist-accessible animal sanctuaries in emerging economies and to assess their effectiveness from the perspective of stakeholders.
