Law, Brickfields Asia College transfer programme, 2016
“The Oxford Brookes’ Law course has given me freedom to choose which modules I would like to study in both semesters, and I am hoping that by choosing environmental law it will be a platform to assist me in my future career ventures”
I completed my A-levels in Singapore and then pursued a law degree in Malaysia with Brickfields Asia College. They offered a transfer law degree program and so I came to Oxford Brookes University in my final year. I decided to choose this route into law for the exposure it would offer and because I thought I would enjoy the change in academic scenery.
I really like the lectures and how easily available and accessible the taught materials are on this course – and most importantly the willingness of the lecturers to offer one to one consultations to their students. I was attracted to the Brookes’ course as it offered an optional module in law, environmentalism and society which I am particularly interested in.
In the future I would like to become a solicitor and ultimately join an environmental organisation in order to help create ways of managing development in light of preserving the global environment.
The Oxford Brookes’ Law course has given me freedom to choose which modules I would like to study in both semesters, and I am hoping that by choosing environmental law it will be a platform to assist me in my future career ventures. I feel like I have learnt a lot of skills on this course that will make me more attractive to employers: particularly research, multi-tasking, time management and creativity.
I would advise any other international students thinking of coming here not to be afraid of approaching staff and lecturers for help as all the staff here are really pleasant and helpful people. Oxford Brookes has so many facilities that help to make life as a student so much easier and more efficient, from online facilities like Moodle to real life facilities like the library.
Oxford has a pleasant, polite culture and the environment is calm, clean, green and cool. I like how everything is easily accessible – from shopping centres to grocery stores – you can move about the city easily, whether on public transport or foot.
