Senior Lecturer in Real Estate and Subject Coordinator
School of the Built Environment
Role
I am the Subject Coordinator for the BSc (Hons) Real Estate Management degree. There are about 300 students on the course and the majority will complete their professional qualifications to become members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The role involves recruiting new students, managing the day to day running of the course and ensuring that it is kept relevant by updating content to reflect current trends in the industry.
I also enjoy working on wider university projects such as mentoring schemes and validations of new programmes as ther are many exciting innovations happening throughout the university
Areas of expertise
I am a Chartered Surveyor and was in practice for about 12 years, as a Fund Manager and Development Manager. Having worked for a major consultancy practice, a Life Assurance fund and a FTSE 100 restaurant and leisure company I had the opportunity to experience all aspects of property ownership and management from differnet perspectives.
Since leaving practice full time I have had my own business for over 15 years delivering training on a proprietary development appraisal software package and corporaate training programmes, both in the UK and abroad, for UCEM, Oxford Brookes University and the RICS.
