Amanpreet Kaur

Role

Dr Amanpreet Kaur holds a PhD degree in Material Science. She serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, Oxford Brookes University. She worked as an EPSRC-Post Doctoral Research Fellow from 2020-22, and KE & I Research Fellow from 2022-23 in Ultrasonic Cavitation Processing Lab (Cav-IT), Oxford Brookes University.

Her research area focuses on ultrasonic production of two-dimensional (2D) novel materials in eco-friendly and bio-friendly solvents with the aim of their exploitation in drug delivery, fuel cells, solar cells, conductive inks, thin films and engineering applications. She has been recognized as an Exceptional promise by “The Royal Academy of Engineering, UK”.

Research

Amanpreet is a group member of Ultrasonic Cavitation Processing Lab (Cav-IT). Her current research interests include:

  • ultrasonic liquid phase exfoliation (ULPE) techniques
  • fundamental and applied studies on ULPE mechanisms for sustainable production of graphene
  • other two dimensional (2D) materials, optimisation of sonoexfoliation parameters, etc.

She has developed manufacturing protocols and guidelines for reproducible high-quality graphene of significant yield, using green/bio friendly solvents instead of toxic and carcinogenic exfoliation chemicals. Her primary focus is to engineer novel 2D materials for applications such as drug delivery in oncology settings, fuel cells, thin films for solar cells, conductive inks and so on.

Exchange projects

a) Co-investigator on a successful funding grant-NFFA-2023 & 2024 (Nanoscience foundries and fine analysis, Europe) with OBU & FORTH-Greece. The aim of this project was to utilise state of art experimental facilities across Europe with a rich spectrum of research activities and scientific expertise, which provide an intellectual environment, ideal for fostering new ideas and advancing scientific research.

b) Co-investigator on a successful funding grant-EMERGE-2023 with OBU and HMU, Greece. The aim of this funding is to encourage research & technology organizations, industry and small-medium enterprises to develop projects on sustainable flexible large-area printed electronics and photonics.
