I joined Oxford Brookes in 2018, following a successful period as Course Leader on the Music & Live Events Management course at Bucks New University.

Following an introduction to the music business through retail in Edinburgh, Alan moved into record company sales before eventually relocating to London. He worked successfully in senior marketing roles for a number of record labels, then in artist management, representing a range major international artists.
He initially became involved in teaching at Bucks New Uni and as Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Music and Live Events Management helped to successfully develop the course, which achieved outstanding scores of 100% for 'Overall Student Satisfaction' in the National Student Survey (NSS) in 2017 and 2018.
He joined Oxford Brookes in 2018, was the Winner of the 2021 Brookes Union Teaching Award "Sustainability in Teaching" , Winner ''Outstanding Teaching For Employability" (2020), runner up in the categories "Outstanding Contribution to the Student Experience" and 'Best Academic Adviser' (2019).
