Role

Ivan joined Oxford Brookes in September 2023 as a Lecturer in Law. He is specialized in the areas of International Economic Law, Commercial Law and Contract Law, and teaches on several modules on foundation, LLB and LLM levels. Ivan currently acts as module leader on three LLM modules: International Investment Law, Law of International Business Transactions, and International Corporate Governance.

Before joining Brookes, Ivan spent five years as a Research Fellow at Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law. Ivan holds a PhD from the University of Luxembourg where he defended his thesis on State Responsibility for Judicial Acts in International Investment Law in 2022.

Ivan is a qualified lawyer (admitted to the Belgrade Bar) and holds an LL.M. from the University of Barcelona and an LL.B. from the University of Belgrade.

Research

Ivan's research focuses on the areas of International Economic Law and International Dispute Settlement. In his research, Ivan examined the ideological, historical and socio-economic contexts underpinning the regime of International Investment Law and the unique type of protection provided under this regime. He is particularly interested in the interplay between International Economic Law and climate justice.
