Research

Gayle entered academia from a practice and teaching focussed background. This has informed her recent research into employability, disability, social justice issues and pedagogic benefits of experiential learning. Gayle has presented at conferences on employability and student wellbeing in addition to student transitions to university. Peer Review - Anne Dennett, Public Law Directions (1st edition OUP, 2019), Entry on neurodiversity and legal education in the Elgar Concise Encyclopaedia of Legal Education (due 2025)

Research impact

Gayle introduced the Community Legal Outreach Collaboration (established at Keele University) to Oxford Brookes University which combines training students to work with the local Oxford Combined Court to support litigants in person. This form of experiential learning offers employability benefits to students in addition to insights on social justice concerns, in particular barriers to access to justice.
