Research

My area of academic specialisation is political theory/philosophy and the history of political thought.

My work focusses on the relationship between science, technology and politics in both early modern philosophy and twentieth-century French philosophy.

I have written extensively on Thomas Hobbes and Gilbert Simondon, studying the influence of Descartes’s mechanical philosophy on the development of Hobbes's political thought, and the reception of French philosophy, epistemology and classical sociology in Simondon's theory of individuation.

As part of my research, I seek to develop a political anthropology from a materialist perspective, and a critique of the ideological function of natural scientific models conceived as ontological and epistemological foundations within social and political theory.
