Library moves
The Wheatley Library has now closed. See below for more information.
What is happening to the Library when the University moves its remaining activity from the Wheatley campus?
The books, journals and dissertations that are currently held in the Wheatley Library will be transferred to the Headington Library.
When will you be moving the library?
The Wheatley Library will close completely at 5.00pm on Tuesday 4 June 2024. Up until that point the library will be open as usual, with no disruption to stock or study spaces prior to that date.
How long will the move take?
The move should take just over one week. We expect the resources that have been moved from Wheatley to Headington to be ready for use from Monday 17 June.
What resources can I use while the move is happening?
The Wheatley print items won’t be available, but all our usual e-resources will be unaffected by the move. If there is a print item that you desperately need, contact libraryenquiries@brookes.ac.uk and we will try and arrange something for you.
Can I borrow books before you move - and where should I return them?
Yes - the library will continue to operate up until the day we move. Once we have closed the Wheatley Library at 5.00pm on 4 June, you can return any items to the other campus libraries at Headington, Harcourt Hill or Swindon.
Can I place holds on books during the move?
Yes - but please be aware it will take longer for us to satisfy the holds if they are Wheatley print books.
Where will the books/journals/dissertations be after the move?
The Wheatley print stock will be merged into the Headington print stock: it won’t be kept separately. Use LibrarySearch to find resources in the normal way.
I've never been to the Headington Library - where can I find out more about it?
Will I still have a librarian who can answer my subject specific enquiries?
Yes. Beth Paton, the Academic Liaison Librarian for computing, engineering and mathematics, will continue to support those subject areas from Headington. Check out the course resource webpages for computing, engineering and mathematics for more information.
What is happening to the furniture and study desks?
Some furniture will be moved to Headington whilst older furniture will be recycled.
Who can I contact if I have any questions about the library move?
