Overview
Engage in inter-professional learning on a topic fundamental to delivering public health services - leadership.
We'll equip public health practitioners at all stages of the leadership spectrum to develop and apply the relevant
- knowledge base
- research evidence
- concepts
- and skill-sets
to be effective leaders in both public and private sector health and care environments.
This module seeks to enhance leadership practice at personal, organisational and inter-organisational levels. We'll discuss core theories of leadership and management and how they can be applied to developing teams to improve engagement and operational performance.
There will be a strong emphasis on personal development. We'll promote a learning community where you can nurture a network of learning relationships to support current and future leadership development.
You will be assessed 100% through coursework.
When operationally appropriate, the University may co-teach this module with the distance-learning run of P44820 (HESC7011) Leadership in Health and Social Care.

Entry requirements
You must normally be from a healthcare background and have the support from a manager to undertake this module of study.

English language requirements
In addition to the academic entry qualifications, if your first language is not English you must demonstrate that your level of English is appropriate for study at postgraduate level. An IELTS overall score of 6.5 is required for this course.

Apply through our Moodle Portal.
If you wish to take this as a standalone module then you can apply to be a postgraduate associate student using our online application portal. You will need to register for the portal prior to proceeding with an application. You may take this module as a standalone module of 200 hours of study over 6 weeks or as part of a programme of study.

Tuition fees
Fees quoted are for the first year only. If you are studying a course that lasts longer than one year your fees will increase each year.
How and when to pay
Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester. Students are not liable for full fees for that semester if they leave before week 4. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.
