Overview
This practice-focused orientation in Improving the Quality of Healthcare will enable healthcare professionals to critically explore the conceptual foundations of quality and governance in the context of their own working environment.
You will gain an understanding of the broader theoretical concepts of quality and clinical governance initiative. It challenges accepted notions of measuring quality and performance in complex situations and explores how practitioners can develop more appropriate and effective frameworks.
You will be introduced to the complexity of change management and the dilemmas in achieving organisational change through clinical governance. You'll be encouraged to critically analyse your own practice/organisation's approach to managing quality improvement within the clinical governance agenda.
You will be assessed 100% through coursework. This module will take 150 hours of study over 12 weeks and it can also be taken as part of a programme of study.

You must normally be from a healthcare background and have support from a manager to undertake this module of study.

English language requirements
In addition to the academic entry qualifications, if your first language is not English you must demonstrate that your level of English is appropriate for study at postgraduate level. An IELTS overall score of 6.5 is required for this course.

If you wish to take this as a standalone module then you can apply to be a postgraduate associate student using our online application portal. You will need to register for the portal prior to proceeding with an application.

Tuition fees
Fees quoted are for the first year only. If you are studying a course that lasts longer than one year your fees will increase each year.
How and when to pay
Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester. Students are not liable for full fees for that semester if they leave before week 4. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.
