About

The People, Plants, Primates Action Fund was established in 2024 as a means to support the research and conservation work done by members of the Oxford Illegal Wildlife Trade Research Group, the Nocturnal Primate Research Group, and the Sustainable Agroforestry Research Group.

Donations help research and conservation actions on the following topics:

  • Monitoring and mitigating illegal wildlife trade through market surveys, law enforcement training, and working with traders, consumers and intermediaries.
  • Field projects on primates, including slow lorises, lemurs, monkeys and apes.
  • Empowering local communities to engage in sustainable agroforestry projects.
  • Field research grants for undergraduate and postgraduate students to study wildlife trade primatology and/or agroforestry.

Our current research groups include:

“At Oxford Brookes University, we have decades of experience working with local communities to better understand and to conserve primates and their environments, which increasingly involves working in agricultural landscapes where people and primates co-exists. Your donation will help us to continue this work and to find a balance between the needs of people, plants and primates.”
