Professor Lucy Mazdon confirmed as PVC Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)

Oxford Brookes is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Lucy Mazdon as Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). She will take up her post in early January 2022.

Lucy is currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education at the University of Hull. Prior to that, she worked at the University of Southampton where she was Head of the Department of Film and later Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Professor Lucy Mazdon commented: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Oxford Brookes. I look forward to working with colleagues in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and across the University to build on your successes and develop new opportunities together.”

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has a strong reputation for teaching excellence and internationally recognised research and I’m confident it will go from strength to strength under her leadership.”

Lucy has studied at the Universities of Birmingham, Grenoble and Warwick and completed her PhD at Southampton. She is an experienced researcher, teacher and senior manager.

As PVC Dean, Lucy will be a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Group at Oxford Brookes, the most senior staff group responsible for leading the University.
