Our speakers will examine care and caring from literary, historical, philosophical, domestic and institutional perspectives.
Dr Dinah Roe will discuss care through the poetry and life of Christina Rossetti; Professor Gary Browning will explore caring through the philosophy of Iris Murdoch and Simone Weil and draw on his work with Samaritans, while Professor Marius Turda will consider how ideas of care have been invoked in the history of eugenics and especially psychiatry.
