Judging the Booker: A Conversation with Mary Jean Chan

During this moderated conversation, Costa Poetry Prize winner of Flèche (Faber & Faber, 2019) and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing Dr Mary Jean Chan will explore their role as a judge for the 2023 Booker Prize. Chan will be in conversation with Dr Enora Lessinger, whose research focuses on literary translation in contemporary British fiction, centering on the work of Booker Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro.

Apart from discussing the winning Booker novel, Chan and Lessinger will reflect on some of the longlisted and shortlisted works, and the Booker Prize more generally. A Q&A with the audience will follow the moderated part of this talk.
